A 15-day Escorted Tour which starts in the Windy City of Chicago and ends in the Big Easy, New Orleans! En route, tour the Country Music capital, Nashville, and the home of Elvis Presley in Memphis. Part of your tour will include a trip on 'Ole Miss' the authentic American Queen Steamboat!

Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Chicago 

Your USA holiday starts with a flight from the UK to Denver o­n a scheduled United Airlines flight. On arrival, transfer independently to your hotel.                                  

Overnights (2): Chicago - Doubletree Magnificent Mile 

Day 2 - Chicago 

A full day at leisure allows you to explore your choice of Chicago's must-see attractions at your own pace. Visit the second tallest building in North America, Willis Tower, where you can step out on "The Ledge" and stare 1,353 feet straight down. Check out incredible panoramas from 360 CHICAGO, formerly known as the John Hancock Observatory. See mind-bending reflections of the city skyline at "The Bean" (Cloud Gate) the centrepiece of Millennium Park. Stroll around Buckingham Fountain and enjoy the colourful light and music display as it glows against the skyline and lakefront or indulge in some of Chicago's masterpieces, Pizza whilst catching a game at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs Baseball Team. You will meet your tour director on day 2. Breakfast and Dinner Included. 

Day 3 - Chicago - Springfield - St Louis 

Heading diagonally across the state of Illinois, you'll cruise through endless fields of corn en route to Springfield, the iconic heart of America, capitol of Illinois and hometown of Abraham Lincoln. Springfield is filled with authentic experiences and nostalgia for days gone by as Route 66 runs right through it. Continue to St Louis, the Gateway to the West. Upon arrival, glimpse the nations tallest monument, the Gateway Arch which commemorates Thomas Jefferson's vision and St Louis role in the westward expansion of the United Stated. For the brave hearted take an elevator to the top and view the city from high. Breakfast Included.

Day 4 - St Louis - Nashville 

This morning, it’s on to Southern hospitality, unbelievable cuisine, a boundless spectrum of nightlife and an unforgettable experience in Music City - Nashville, Tennessee. From its very beginnings, Nashville grew from a foundation built on music. This evening, experience for yourself what makes Nashville special with a live show at the Grand Ole Opry the "home of American Music" and "Country's most famous stage" (Optional). Breakfast Included.

Overnights (2): Nashville - Inn at Opryland

Day 5 - Nashville 

A full day at leisure to explore Nashville must-see attractions at your own pace. Follow the story of country music, past to present, through the Country Music Hall of Fame. Visit Historic RCA Studio B "The Home of 1000 Hits" This evening you may wish to enjoy Nashville's Honky Tonks, a creative breeding ground for hopeful performers, musicians and songwriters yearning to make it big. Breakfast Included.

Day 6 - Nashville - Memphis

Next stop is the Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll and the starting point of soul and blues - Memphis. Located on the Bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River, Tennessee's largest city is known for its finger lickin' barbecue, live music and world famous attractions. No visit will be complete without a tour of the home of Elvis Presley at Graceland before spending time this evening on Beale Street with its many bars and restaurants offering many choices of live music and great food. Breakfast Included.

Overnight (1): Memphis - Sheraton Memphis

Day 7 - Memphis

Leisure time today to explore more of Memphis at your own pace. Consider a self-guided tour of the National Civil Rights Museum, the site of the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King Jr, watching the Peabody Hotel’s famous Duck March, or a guided tour of Sun Studio where you can learn the story of the studio which launched many great musical careers. This afternoon board your home for the next 7 nights, the Steamboat American Queen, experience authentic Southern Culture as you journey through living history. Breakfast and Dinner Included

Overnights (7): American Queen - Grade E Cabin or higher


Day 8 - Greenville

Greenville is at the very heart and soul of Mississippi's Delta. Located on the banks of Lake Ferguson, a short drive from Indianola, the birthplace of BB King and many other blues singers. Breakfast and Dinner included.

Day 9 - Vicksburg

Vicksburg perfectly blends Southern culture and heritage with exciting modern-day attractions. Described as the "Key to the South" by Abraham Lincoln, the Southern town carries a history unlike any other Civil War city. Founded in 1811, Vicksburg grew as a vital river port city. Today Vicksburg is a popular spot for tourists to learn about the battles of the city. Breakfast and Dinner included.


Day 10 - Natchez

Founded in 1716, making it the oldest city on the Mississippi, Natchez is a charming town first inhabited by the Natchez Indians and French explorers who shared the land. Visitors will enjoy the unique shops, restaurants, museums and historical homes. Breakfast and Dinner included.


Day 11 - St Francisville

In the 1790's below where St Francisville is located today, was a settlement called Bayou Sara. When this settlement was destroyed by flooding and fires, many of the structures and artefacts were hauled up the bluff to St Francisville where they remain standing. Breakfast and Dinner included.


Day 12 - Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, the Capitol of Louisiana has a deep culture and rich history. Home to Louisiana's Capitol building, the largest in the United States as well as the Old State Capitol, a gothic architectural monument located on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. You will enjoy spending the day exploring all that Baton Rouge has to offer. Breakfast and Dinner included.

Day 13 – Nottoway

Experience living history as you enjoy a guided walking tour of the largest Antebellum mansion of the Deep South, Nottoway Plantation. This stunning historical plantation lies between Baton Rouge and New Orleans and offers a glimpse into the truly grand Antebellum Era. Nottaway's mansion contains three floors, 64 bedrooms and displays 22 white square columns which contribute to the nickname "The White Castle of Louisiana" Breakfast and Dinner included.


Day 14 - New Orleans

This morning, American Queen will tie up and you will disembark in New Orleans near Historic Jackson Square. As one of America's most fascinating cities and the birthplace of Jazz. New Orleans is alive with tradition and home to a truly unique melting pot of culture. Tour the streets of the French Quarter via horse and carriage or visit one of the historic cemeteries. Before joining your fellow travellers for an optional farewell dinner. Breakfast included.

Overnight (1): New Orleans - AC Hotel New Orleans French Quarter Area


Day 15 - New Orleans - UK

Your tour concludes today upon check out of your hotel, transfer independently to New Orleans to check in for your flights home.
