Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Washington 
Your holiday to the Eastern United States begins with a scheduled flight from London with Virgin Atlantic Airways, on arrival transfer independently to your downtown hotel. The hotel is located in Dupont Circle and is one of the most historic districts in Washington DC. Located in the “Old City” of D.C., the area is included in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and has plenty of bars and restaurants in the area for dinner. 
Overnights (2): Washington DC - The Embassy Row Hotel 

Day 2- Washington DC 
Take to the Metro today and visit some of the most iconic locations in the city. Start at the Capitol Building where you can take a guided tour through the home of the US Senate and Congress before taking to the Mall and visiting the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum or Museum of Natural History. Take some lunch and spend some time next to the Reflecting Pool near Lincoln's Memorial before viewing the nearby Vietnam Memorial Monument. On your way back to the hotel, view the White House, home of the 45th US President - Donald Trump. If your up to watching some sport - maybe catch a Nationals Baseball Game.

Day 3 - Washington - Baltimore (40 miles) 
Collect your hire car today from a downtown deport and take a short drive to Baltimore in the state of Maryland. Considered the heart of Baltimore, the Inner Harbor is home to the shops and boutiques of Harbor Place, Fells Point and Harbor East, amazing restaurants, and renowned attractions like the National Aquarium, The American Visionary Art Museum, The Maryland Science Center, Port Discovery Children’s Museum, Ripley’s Believe It or Not and The Baltimore Museum of Industry. Explore the area by water taxi or walk the 7-mile brick Waterfront Promenade that connects all the action.

Day 4 - Baltimore - Gettysburg (59 miles) 
The Battle of Gettysburg was fought from July 1st to July 3rd 1863 and was a pivotal battle during the American Civil War and was a victory for the Union Forces. Visit the battlefield today and learn about the battle and the Gettysburg Address made by President Lincoln in November of that year. A Cyclorama of the battle can be viewed in the Museum and Visitor Centre.
Overnight (2): Gettysburg - Wyndham Gettysburg 

Day 5 - Gettysburg - Lancaster - Gettysburg (112 miles)
Take a day tour to the town of Lancaster and learn about the life of the Amish Culture and Customs. 

Day 6 - Gettysburg - Manassas - Charlottesville (185 miles)
Manassas was the site of the First and Second Battles of Bull Run in 1861 and 1862 respectively. View the battlefield and visit the visitor site to learn about these important battles. Continue after lunch to Charlottesville. Home of two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, an architectural masterpiece and the grounds of the University of Virginia. 
Overnight (1): Charlottesville - Omni Charlottesville 

Day 7 - Charlottesville - Appomattox - Richmond (187 miles) 
The Courthouse in Appomattox was the location of the last battle of the Civil War and was the location of the signing of the surrender of the Conferderate Forces in 1865. Vist the Courthouse today before continuing to Richmond.
Overnights (2): Richmond - Quirk House 

Day 8 - Richmond 
Richmond is the capital of Virginia and was the home of the Confederacy during the Civil War. Visit the Museum of the Confederacy and other key sites around the city. 

Day 9 - Richmond - Williamsburg - Norfolk (96 miles)
Visit Colonial Williamsburg this morning, the largest living history museum in the United States, It depicts life in the US from founding to the civil war. Continue to Norfolk this afternoon which is the home of the United States Navy. 
Overnight (1): Norfolk - Sheraton Norfolk Waterside 

Day 10 - Norfolk - St Michael's (195 miles)
Take a tour this morning of Norfolk and you’ll see aircraft carriers, destroyers, amphibious assault ships, and learn about the history of Naval Station Norfolk. Continue North along the Eastern Shore this afternoon to the Victorian town of St Michaels in Maryland.
Overnights (2): St Michaels - Inn at Perry Cabin 

Day 11 - St Michaels 
The town of St Michaels is popular for boaters, so why not take a fishing or oystering expedition or go sea glass hunting along the shores.

Day 12 - St Michaels - Annapolis (51 miles)
Tour the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, the training ground for US Naval and Marine Corp Officers The city is a great walking location and has plenty of history, shops and restaurants for an overnight stay.

Day 13 - Annapolis - Washington DC - UK (62 miles)
Spend your last day at the Udvar Hazy Centre, Part of the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum, You can view the Space Shuttle Discovery Concorde and the SR71 Blackbird Spyplane. Spend a day learning about aviation as Washington Dulles Airport and the Car Hire centre is a short drive away. Return your hire car this afternoon and check in for your flight home.
