Fly from the UK to Denver. Pick up your hire car on arrival and transfer to hotel near to Downtown Denver. Overnight (1): Hotel VQ Denver Downtown - Denver
Day 2 Denver-Cheyenne (120 miles) Morning to see the attractions of the “Mile High City” of Denver, Colorado. Some highlights might include the State Capitol building (with the Mile High Marker), City Parks, Denver Art Museum, Colorado History Museum, or Historic Downtown 16th Street Pedestrian Mall and LoDo (Lower Downtown). In the afternoon you will travel north from the Capitol City of Colorado to the Capitol City of Wyoming—Cheyenne. Here you should visit the home of the Cheyenne Frontier Days, one of the world’s largest rodeo events (last full week of July) and the Old West Museum. Overnight (1): Holiday Inn - Cheyenne
Day 3 Cheyenne-Keystone - (285 miles) Travel north into the Cowboy State of Wyoming to visit the Fort Laramie National Historic Site, one the most important fort along the Oregon Trail, the First Highway to the West. Here you will find living history exhibits’ showing what life was like on the frontier outpost over 150 years ago. Continue on to the southern Black Hills to visit Hot Springs and Custer in South Dakota before stopping for the night in Keystone at the base of Mt Rushmore. Overnights (2): Mt Rushmore Whitehouse Resort - Keystone
Day 4 Touring the Black Hills - (100 miles) Full day for sightseeing the attractions of the Black Hills of South Dakota: Mt Rushmore National Memorial, Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, Bear Country USA and many more.
Day 5 Keystone-Deadwood-Sheridan - (285 miles) Travel to nearby Rapid City and then around the northern Black Hills for a visit to the Wild West Community of Deadwood. From here you will travel back into Wyoming for a visit to the Devils Tower National Monument. Continue across the energy rich plains of Wyoming for an overnight in Sheridan. Overnight (1): Holiday Inn - Sheridan
Day 6 Sheridan-Cody - (150 miles) Cross the Big Horn Mountains of Central Wyoming and into the Big Horn Basin region. Here you will spend the night in the community of Cody where a visit to the Buffalo Bill Historic Center is a must—often listed as one of the top 10 museums in the USA. From June to August there is also a Nightly Rodeo held in Cody. Overnight (1): Holiday Inn - Cody
Day 7 Cody-Yellowstone - (150 miles) Travel north from Cody and then across the Chief Joseph Pass into the Sunlight Basin and then into the Yellowstone National Park using the most scenic Northeast Entrance Gate. You will pass through the Lamar Valley (once a large bison ranch area) and then time for touring in the Mammoth Hot Springs area where you will spend the night. Overnight (1): Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel (Frontier Cabin Units) - Yellowstone
Day 8 Touring Yellowstone - (90 miles) Full day for touring in the Yellowstone Park where we suggest to visit the Norris Thermal Basin, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone with the Upper and Lower Falls, and the beautiful Lake Yellowstone. Overnights (2): Grant Village - Yellowstone
Day 9 Touring Yellowstone - (75 miles) A second full day for touring in the Yellowstone Park where this day it is recommended to spend time in the famed thermal basins: Fountain Paint Pots, Black Sand Basin and the Famed Old Faithful Geyser Basin.
Day 10 Yellowstone-Jackson Hole - (110 miles) A full day to spend hiking and touring in the Grand Teton National Park. You may wish to do (optional) a boat ride across the Jenny Lake for the short hike up to the Hidden Falls or Inspiration Point. This night you will be in the resort community of Jackson Hole filled with shops, galleries, restaurants and nightlife. Overnight (1): Painted Buffalo Inn - Jackson
Day 11 Jackson-Rock Springs - (180 miles) Time to spend in the community of Jackson this morning, or try one of the optional activities of this community: scenic rafting, horseback riding, alpine slide or eco tour program. In the afternoon you will travel south through the National Forest and alongside the Wind River Mountains (largest wilderness region in the “lower” states). Overnight in the community of Rock Springs where you will find a scenic wild horse loop road. Overnight (1): La Quinta - Rock Springs.
Day 12 Rock Springs-Steamboat Springs - (225 miles) From Rock Springs you will travel east through the desert regions of southern Wyoming and then back into the more mountain region of northern Colorado. Here you will travel on to Steamboat Springs where you will stay at a winter resort region—again lots of shops, restaurants, galleries and some excellent hot springs for soaking away the long days of driving and touring. Overnight (1): Comfort Inn - Steamboat Springs.
Day 13 Steamboat Springs-Estes Park - (150 miles) We saved one of the most impressive drives until the end as today you travel on to the Rocky Mountain National Park and cross over the Trail Ridge Highway. This route, at over 12,000 feet above sea level, is the highest continuous paved drive in North America. You will spend this night in the mountain resort community of Estes Park at the east Entrance to the Rocky Mountain Park. Overnight (1): Holiday Inn of the Rockies - Estes Park.
Day 14 Estes Park-Denver - (120 miles) More time to spend enjoying Estes Park before you depart along the Peak to Peak Scenic Route and then down into the college community of Boulder (University of Colorado). Then return to Denver for some last minute shopping before staying this last night near the Denver Airport. Overnight (1): Fairfield Inn DIA - Denver.
Day 15 Denver-UK Enjoy a leisurely morning before returning your hire car to the airport before your return flight to the UK.
Day 16 Arrive UK.
